The Black and the White
Roberta Warmuth

Dark

Darkness gives
coffee an extra kick,
top hats more class,
clarinets graceful elegance,
onyx and pearls new depth,
peace lilies a home,
magic roses power.

White

Light gives
definition to our nightmares,
evil a face,
others our true selves,
brides a big reason to fear,
lightning its paralyzing spark.
In darkness we can be ourselves.
No one will judge the abstract.
It is light we fear more.
In light, we are naked.
