Cold Landscape by: Amalia Saldivar, Oil Pastel with Charcoal, 2018

Gypsy Moth

 her large wings like carbon,

onion skin thin,

black and white duplicates.

fragrance flies through the treetops

as loose leaves in a breeze.

mobility a rash in need of a cure.

planted in earth’s dark soil secure

she hides inside

dark cracks of something greater.

her bright, anxious soul a dying star

inside blue vapor,

below a webbed reality.
